Study 01 / 2026-10-29

Plumbing

Primary query: “plumber Long Island”

Two local-company homepages and one national-brand local franchise homepage. The franchise ranking destination was an emergency-service page.

3of 3

Name their local coverage

Every reviewed homepage identifies Long Island or a county-level service focus. One is a local franchise homepage.

3of 3

Link to core service families

Water-heater and drain-service destinations are linked from each homepage.

3of 3

Publish credential claims

Licensing or insurance wording appears on every reviewed homepage. Claims were not independently verified.

1of 3

Restricts a 24-hour offer

L & J specifies commercial-only emergency service. Office hours and 24/7 scheduling are different statements and are not counted as the same restriction.

What to check on your own site

Separate emergency dispatch, office hours and online scheduling. Say which customers can actually use the offer.

Study 02 / 2026-10-29

Electrical

Primary query: “electrician Long Island”

Three provider homepages; the cohort includes a commercial, industrial and transportation specialist.

3of 3

Name Nassau County coverage

Every reviewed homepage names Nassau; Stone and Welsbach also explicitly name Suffolk.

Finding electricians-1 ↗
3of 3

Link to distinct service destinations

Each homepage contains links to at least two different service pages, including menu links.

Finding electricians-2 ↗
2of 3

Link to both panel and generator pages

Bianco and Stone provide those two direct service paths. Welsbach’s homepage follows a different service structure.

Finding electricians-3 ↗
1of 3

Explicitly targets industrial & transportation work

Welsbach names these markets. Its audience should not be treated as identical to residential repair.

Study 03 / 2026-11-02

Appliance repair

Primary query: “appliance repair Long Island”

Three provider homepages and six refrigerator/washer pages. One franchise ranked with a residential overview rather than its homepage.

3of 3

Homepages link to separate refrigerator and washer owners

Each selected homepage provides routes to two distinct, inspected service destinations. This supports testing useful appliance-level ownership, not creating every brand-and-town combination.

Finding appliance-repair-1 ↗
3of 6

Service pages include a repair-or-replace decision section

Stark’s two sampled pages and Mr. Appliance’s refrigerator page contain a dedicated comparison section or question. A casual mention of replacement did not qualify.

Finding appliance-repair-2 ↗
2of 6

Service pages explicitly exclude retail parts sales

Both sampled Stark pages state this boundary. The observation suggests a qualification question worth checking; it does not measure lead quality or conversion lift.

Finding appliance-repair-3 ↗
2of 6

Service pages put geography in an H1

Both belong to the local Mr. Appliance site. The other four explain coverage elsewhere. This sample does not support an exact-match place-in-H1 rule.

Finding appliance-repair-4 ↗
What to check on your own site

Use appliance-specific service paths, then answer whether the service is repair, parts sales or replacement advice.

Study 04 / 2026-11-02

Roofing

Primary query: “roofing company Long Island”

Three homepages and four linked service pages. Broad-query provider positions were 3, 7 and 8.

3of 3

Homepages introduce both repair and replacement

All three selected providers name these service families. That establishes visible coverage in this sample, not which offer attracts better leads.

Finding roofing-1 ↗
2of 3

Homepages link to separate repair and replacement URLs

Roof Leak Enders and L.I.N.Y. provide distinct linked destinations, which we inspected. All Home’s reviewed homepage uses service sections and same-page navigation.

Finding roofing-2 ↗
2of 3

Homepages explicitly name residential and commercial customers

All Home and Roof Leak Enders name both. L.I.N.Y.’s reviewed homepage emphasizes homeowners; its unlisted capabilities remain unknown.

Finding roofing-3 ↗
1of 2

Inspected replacement pages retain repair wording in the main H1

L.I.N.Y.’s replacement destination shows this mismatch. This denominator is the two inspected replacement pages, not the three-company sample.

Finding roofing-4 ↗
What to check on your own site

Check whether repair and replacement need different explanations and evidence. A separate URL is a planning decision.

Study 05 / 2026-11-02

Landscaping

Primary query: “landscaping company Long Island”

Three provider homepages and seven linked service/audience destinations.

3of 3

Homepages introduce maintenance and new-project work

Each names ongoing property care alongside design, planting, installation, or hardscape work. The sample supports investigating different customer needs; it does not tell us which work produces better leads.

Finding landscaping-1 ↗
2of 3

Link to separate, focused maintenance and project pages

Cipriano’s links lawn maintenance and landscape design. Long Island Landscape Designs links property maintenance and patio design/build, including through its footer. J Hernandez’s inspected destinations group services by audience.

Finding landscaping-2 ↗
1of 3

Explicitly states weekly visit frequency on the homepage

Cipriano’s describes weekly lawn visits. The other two reviewed homepages describe maintenance without a weekly cadence. This is a homepage wording observation, not a claim about their actual schedules.

Finding landscaping-3 ↗
What to check on your own site

Distinguish ongoing property care from a new project. State visit frequency only when the business actually offers it.

Study 06 / 2026-11-02

Pest control

Primary query: “pest control Long Island”

Two primary-query providers: one Melville service-area page and one homepage. A third provider from another query is supplemental and excluded from the ratios.

2of 2

Primary pages link distinct rodent and termite service destinations

Both pairs were directly rendered and contain different service content. This supports checking pest-specific customer decisions; it does not establish a required page count.

Finding pest-control-1 ↗
2of 2

Primary pages link residential and commercial destinations

The actual audience destinations were checked in the bounded HTML sample. Pest type and property audience form different navigation dimensions.

Finding pest-control-2 ↗
1of 2

Primary ranking pages explicitly name quarterly follow-ups

Battle A Bug’s homepage names the cadence. Arrow’s Melville page mentions year-round service without a quarterly frequency. This is page wording, not a certification of actual terms.

Finding pest-control-3 ↗
What to check on your own site

Explain both pest type and property audience. Distinguish the initial visit from an ongoing protection agreement.

How to read the research

The method belongs
next to the numbers.

Selection and search settings

Each original study used three related Google organic queries through our keyword tracker, DataForSEO: Huntington, New York origin; English; desktop/Windows; depth 10 requested. Returned organic counts varied. Qualifying provider-owned results were selected from the named primary query; directories and unrelated locations were excluded.

“First qualifying providers” does not mean positions one, two and three. The individual records preserve actual positions, queries and exclusions. A national franchise and a standalone local company retain their different contexts.

AI-assisted observation, human review

AI agents help organize niche results and flag service, audience and offer patterns. A human checks business fit, page evidence and the interpretation. We examine public HTML and rendered pages, with bounded supporting inventories. Unreviewed pages stay unknown.

Some original result URLs were opaque Google redirects. Where this occurred, business identities and destinations were matched to directly inspected public pages. Exact URL-overlap conclusions remain limited; source records document those limits.

Keep the units separate

A homepage ratio, a ranking-page ratio and a service-page ratio answer different questions. Appliance repair uses six service pages for some findings; pest control has two primary providers. Its supplemental comparison does not increase those denominators.

We have not pooled different definitions into a market-wide percentage. The 17 figure counts primary provider records across the six studies; it is not a common denominator for the individual findings.

What this cannot establish

These are historical snapshots, not live rankings, conversion tests, credential certifications or a representative survey. Shared page features cannot isolate ranking causes from links, proximity, brand prominence, history or other differences.

Use the findings to form a question, inspect your own offer and test a useful change. The research does not justify copying a competitor, claiming their capabilities or multiplying thin service-and-town pages.
